Distilleries and Wineries

Want a little taste of history? Meet Jimmie Smith, a local moonshiner and the first in his family to do it legally. The Golden Pond Distillery is located right across the highway from The Red Brick Inn, 97 Canton Ln, Cadiz, Kentucky, 42211. They carry many flavors that may be the best moonshine you ever taste! My favorite is the Butter Pecan and the Salted Caramel. But for a unique Kentucky fruit experience, you gotta try the Paw Paw.

John and Karen Hlinka are the husband-and-wife team behind Poca Terra wines. As both owners and winemakers, this duo blends passion, creativity, and science to create a unique style of estate-bottled wines. John, a retired civil/structural engineer, and Karen, a retired biologist/college professor, started growing grapes and making wine as a hobby. As the harvests improved and the awards started accumulating, that hobby soon grew into a commercial small-farm winery, the first in Marshall County.
